MPS Systems Asia hires regional service engineer

Julius Urbano will provide pre- and post-installation technical service for MPS presses in the Asia-Pacific region, and support local service engineers of various agents

MPS Systems Asia has hired Julius Urbano as regional service engineer, as the Dutch press manufacturer further extends its presence in Asia.

MPS established a direct presence in Asia in January. The appointment of Urbano is the next step in MPS’s strategic growth in the region.

Urbano will provide pre- and post-installation technical service for MPS presses in the Asia-Pacific region, and support local service engineers of various agents.

With 18 years of direct experience as a field service engineer in the printing industry, Urbano brings a wealth of knowledge to the position. Born in the Philippines, he has lived and worked in several Asian countries and is currently based at MPS Systems Asia headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Urbano will receive in-depth training of MPS flexo, offset and hybrid press technology at MPS’s headquarters in Arnhem, The Netherlands.

Tim Klappe, MPS Systems Asia managing director, commented: ‘The addition of Julius to our team is an important next step in our growth throughout the Asia-Pacific region, and we are delighted to welcome him on board. We recognize the importance for our customers to receive local service and support, and with this appointment we are able to do so in a much better way.’

The hiring of Urbano follows the appointment of Chimeng Packaging as its agent in Taiwan, Intercom Trade Services in Pakistan and IDG in Indonesia. MPS has previously detailed its strategy in Asia, which can be read here.

Klappe concluded: ‘Our momentum is building quickly. We are actively recruiting additional Service Engineers, growing our Asia-Pacific agent representation, solidifying local supplier partnerships, and plan to establish a demo centre here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.’
