Finat releases 11th edition of technical handbook

German and French translations of the 11th edition are now available to the association members.

Finat has released German and French translations of its Technical Handbook 11th edition, following the English version's launch at Labelexpo Europe in Barcelona last September.

The handbook has been the globally recognized standard on testing procedures for self-adhesive labels for more than 35 years. The use of standardized test methods is a fundamental building block of quality assurance in the label industry. From development to specification to production monitoring, the Finat test methods described in the book serve as an essential benchmark for advancing industry standardization.

The 11th edition contains 31 test methods, various guidelines and addresses of test equipment manufacturers and testing laboratories. The latest addition is testing method 31, which describes a procedure to measure the resistance of an expanded multilayer flexible film to internal splitting caused by hand pulling.

Some sections have been removed, others completely rewritten, or slightly modified. By removing some sections and shortening others, the association has tried to keep the handbook as compact as possible while ensuring it contains all relevant and important information.

'Since its appearance 35 years ago, the Finat Technical Handbook has been, and still is, one of the association's major contributions to the global self-adhesive label industry,' noted Finat. 'Without the members of the Finat Test Methods working group, who are the driving force behind this authoritative benchmark, we would not be able to present a reliable source of test procedures.'

The English version is available in hard copy and PDF, while the German and French versions are available only in PDF. Finat members can download all three language versions from the association's members' section on the website. All members are encouraged to provide input and feedback on the handbook's contents.
