HP and Esko partner for digital printing packaging production

Companies join forces to streamline and automate the packaging value chain and enable versioning, customization and personalization at scale.

HP and Esko have partnered to deliver an integrated technology for the production of digitally printed packaging.

The partnership is set to help packaging converters streamline and automate the packaging value chain and enable brand owners to leverage the unique capabilities of digital print for packaging and reap the benefits of consumer engagement.

Traditionally, packaging production lines involve multiple stakeholders meaning final delivery timelines can take several months. The integrated platform from HP and Esko will manage content and data across the value chain allowing contributors to collaborate on packaging projects and reduce the overall lead time from months to weeks.

Using an integrated web portal, brand owners will be able to order their packages from converters on-demand, reducing order delivery times from weeks to days, decrease stocks and reduce overall cost.

The new technology will enhance visibility and control to the brand owners and increase press capacity of packaging converters.

HP and Esko will showcase the integrated mass customization technology at drupa 2024. The technology enables customization ‘at scale’ through automated artwork creation, and personalization ‘at scale’ through integrated workflow solutions, including ecommerce portals, designed for converters and brands alike.

Brand owners will benefit from a streamlined production for effortless creation of more versioning, more customization and heightened consumer engagement. Brand owners will be equipped to swiftly respond to changing consumer buying behavior.

Noam Zilbershtain, vice president and general manager of HP Indigo and Scitex, said: ‘The new partnership between Esko and HP will help brand owners and converters to make digital print production more efficient, and packaging customization to become a mainstream practice within the digital print landscape.’

Joel Depernet, president of Esko, added: ‘The new integrated solution leverages the Esko suite of packaging tools and the HP PrintOS Suite, meaning third party solutions are seamlessly connected into the production workflow. With the integration of HP Smartstream Designer and Composer in Esko WebCenter, customization and versioning of each and every new packaging project is within reach. We look forward to work with HP and showcase our software at drupa.”

The new technology will be demonstrated at drupa on the Esko and HP booths, as well as on the drupa touchpoint packaging booth.
