Clarifoil, producers of cellulose acetate films for labels, lamination and window cartons, is offering label producers looking for environmental solutions free technical advice following its films’ official accreditation under DIN EN 13432 and ASTM D 6400 biodegradability regulations.

Clarifoil gained the EU and US official compostability accreditations earlier this year and has launched an intensive technical education campaign to position its films as both a biodegradable and creatively satisfying solution. The official accreditations apply to standard grade Clarifoil films typically used in labeling applications and includes ‘Signature’ films with branding etched in.

Gordon Willins, Clarifoil commercial director, said: ‘Our theme is that compostability does not have to come at the expense of creative quality or technical performance. Label companies are looking for accredited biodegradable solutions that retain an edge in quality of appearance and we are happy to help develop new products that meet the need. In combination with appropriate adhesive systems, Clarifoil films also provide excellent tamper evidence characteristics.’

Clarifoil cellulose acetate films are made from wood pulp and are classed in the UK with paper and board for recovery and recycling purposes.

Produced in the UK, Clarifoil label, lamination and window film is approved for food contact uses and is available in 14 micron – 500 micron thicknesses.
