Heidelberg targets Latin American growth

Press manufacturer to strengthen sales and service presence in Mexico and Brazil.

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG is targeting Latin America as a strategic growth region, pledging significant investment in sales and service infrastructure in Mexico and Brazil as demand for integrated packaging print solutions rises across the region.

Latin America is home to around 670 million people, with Mexico and Brazil accounting for half the population and projecting GDP growth of around two to three percent over the coming years. Market analysis cited by the company forecasts printed packaging growing at just under four percent CAGR across all segments through 2029, driven by food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and e-commerce.

Heidelberg holds a market share of well over 50 percent in sheetfed offset printing presses in the region's key countries and is represented in Brazil and Mexico through its own subsidiaries and more than 200 sales and service employees.

'Latin America is a strategic growth region for Heidelberg, where we intend to further expand our already strong position,' said Dr David Schmedding, executive board member for technology and sales at Heidelberg. 'Demand for integrated production environments is rising and print shops are increasingly seeking comprehensive solutions from a single source. Our goal is to support our customers along the entire value chain in packaging, label and commercial printing.'

Schmedding noted that interest from other Latin American markets in both shows is particularly high, with the company anticipating more than 60,000 visitors across the two events combined.
