AMS enters label and packaging industry

AMS, traditionally a supplier of mailing equipment, has expanded into the label and packaging market with the addition of the Speedstar 3000, a short-run desktop digital color label printer.

The Speedstar 3000 runs in full color at 1,600 x 800 dpi at 300mm/second or 1,600 x 1,600 dpi at 150mm/second. Print width runs from 50mm to 222mm and the system can handle substrates from 0.13mm to 0.33mm thick.

AMS said the move is a response to growing demand for labeling and packaging equipment among its customers. AMS has the technical experience and knowledge of complex mail insertion equipment and printers, enabling it to supply label printers as well as shrink wrap machines and poly-bagging systems.

Peter Fiorentini, managing director, AMS, said: ‘Color label printing has become an integral part of many businesses in-house packaging production process and with new technology in the Speedstar label printer such as a large color touchscreen interfaces and high quality Memjet print heads, customers and dealers alike can't recommend AMS enough.

‘Where speed and running costs have historically been key issues for potential users, we can serve a broad market due to the cost-effectiveness and high quality of the Memjet color printing technology. The printer has a dramatic impact on how color printing can be used.’
