Durst unveils Tau G3 platform at Labelexpo Europe 2025
New digital press platform promises enhanced productivity and reliability.

Durst Group has launched its new Tau G3 platform at Labelexpo Europe 2025, featuring two models designed to deliver enhanced productivity, ease of use and print quality for digital labels production.
The Tau G3 Core and Tau G3 Peak models offer native 1,200 x 1,200 DPI resolution, with speeds reaching 61 m/min and 80 m/min, respectively. The Peak model can be optionally expanded to 100 m/min, depending on the configuration. Print widths range from 244 mm to 510 mm across both models.
'With the Tau G3 platform, we are opening the next chapter in digital labels printing,' explained Thomas Macina, director global sales labels and flexible packaging at Durst Group. 'Our customers benefit from maximum print quality, easy operation, integrated software applications and a platform designed for reliability and future-proof performance.'
The platform supports CMYK plus extended gamut options, including Orange, Violet, Green and White, available with both UV and LED curing. It accommodates substrates from paper to films and aluminum foils within a 20 to 500 µm thickness range.
Built on the proven Tau RSC design, the platform features intuitive LED status displays, enhanced ergonomics, and optimized serviceability. A redesigned cooling system and electrical cabinet enhance component accessibility, facilitating simplified handling and maintenance.
New features include Durst ARC (Automatic Register Control) for real-time color registration and waste reduction, plus Durst MEP (Material Edge Protection), which safeguards printheads with optical edge sensors and protective plates. The optional Durst Hawk AI monitoring system automates color-to-color register and provides closed-loop nozzle correction during printing.
'By combining high-resolution inkjet, intelligent automation and flexible ink options, we are giving converters the tools they need to handle both today's short runs and tomorrow's high-volume demands,' noted Martin Leitner, director product management labels and flexible packaging at Durst Group.
The company also showcased the Durst-Omet KJET hybrid labels printing system, which combines digital inkjet with conventional flexo and finishing in a single line.
The Tau G3 platform premiered at Labelexpo Europe 2025, with first systems in beta testing at customer sites since August. The official market launch is planned for Q2 2026.
'The Tau G3 production platform is the logical next step, setting new benchmarks in innovation, ecological and economic leadership, and AI integration,' commented Christoph Gamper, CEO and co-owner of Durst Group.
