S. Lerner, a label converter based in Akko, Israel, has invested in an HP Indigo WS6000 digital press, driven by an HP SmartStream labels and packaging print server, powered by EskoArtwork.

A family-owned company founded in 1978, S. Lerner produces roll and sheet labels, thermal transfer labels and ribbons, printed tapes and shrink sleeves for the cosmetic; pharmaceutical; agricultural chemicals; detergent and food and beverages markets.

The WS6000 is the company’s first investment in HP Indigo technology. S. Lerner has recently experienced an increase in demand from its customers for fast turnaround, shorter run lengths.

‘We pride ourselves on working with customers to develop innovative, labels and packing solutions, to place their products at the forefront of the market,’ said Doron Lerner, managing director, S. Lerner. ‘We wanted to invest in a press that would allow us to continue to do this, but would also have the benefit of allowing S. Lerner to stay ahead of the competition by offering something different, such as medium-run digital labels, with a quick turnaround. The HP Indigo WS6000 digital press allows us to offer this and more.’

Supporting substrates from 12 to 450 microns, the WS6000 will provide S. Lerner with the capabilities to produce flexible packaging, shrink sleeves and folding cartons.

‘The HP Indigo WS6000 digital press is very easy to use,’ said Lerner. ‘HP has been brilliant to work with and came to our premises to train our operators and demonstrate the full capabilities of the press. This has enabled us to maximize our productivity and confidently transfer jobs from our conventional presses to our new equipment, whilst maintaining the high-quality we have a reputation for. Our customers have been delighted with the results.’
