More gravure cylinders for Africa

4Packaging Africa – a joint venture formed in 2018 between South Africa’s Gravure Cylinders and Germany’s 4packaging group – is now investing in the latest technology to ramp up its manufacturing capacity for rotogravure cylinders.

4packaging Africa’s ramps up gravure cylinder manufacturing capacity

Imported from Germany, gravure cylinder production equipment installed at the South African plant is produced by K Walter (Heliograph group). Although its purchase was negotiated directly between the two German companies, local installation of the three machines and future support is handled by Dätwyler South Africa (also part of the Heliograph group).

According to Simon Sonn, managing director of 4packaging South Africa, this upgrade is a prime example of the shareholders’ commitment to continuous investments in leading-edge hardware and software to satisfy brand owners' and converters' gravure cylinder quality requirements, not only within South Africa but in other parts of Africa.

‘With such state-of-the-art production technology, in-depth know-how and streamlined processes, we’re able to guarantee the shortest delivery times, along with printing and embossing tools of unwavering quality,’ said Sonn.
