Xaar and Polipress transform wine labels

Italian wine label market gets a digital embellishment boost from Xaar and Polipress.

Xaar and Polipress International have joined forces to bring advanced digital embellishment to Italy's premium wine label market, with more than 20 Versatex printbars now installed across the country.

The Versatex printbar, developed by Xaar, offers dual capability to apply varnish and cold foil digital embellishments in a single unit, and is available in both left-to-right and right-to-left configurations. It is compatible with Nilpeter and HP Indigo label presses alongside ABG label finishing lines, spanning both printing and converting stages.

The technology enables techniques such as tactile varnishes, cold foiling and high-opacity whites, allowing producers to raise the perceived quality and uniqueness of their products while creating a sensory experience for consumers.

'Polipress's success in the Italian wine label market is a testament to the power of partnership and innovation,' said Tom Mooney, Versatex product manager at Xaar. 'Versatex enables converters to deliver stunning embellishments such as high-opacity whites, tactile varnishes and cold foiling with precision and speed, helping brands stand out on the shelf.'

Angelo Tribocco, sales manager at Polipress International, noted that the technology had proven to be a game changer from the very first installations, with customers recognising its ability to unlock new levels of creativity while achieving efficiency and cost performance that traditional analog methods cannot match.
