Henkel to buy Novamelt

The owners of Novamelt, a supplier of hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive to markets such as the label and tape industry, will sell the company to Henkel. Both parties signed an agreement on April 14, 2015.

Henkel to buy Novamelt

Henkel is a publicly held company whereby a majority of voting shares are owned by Henkel family members. Novamelt founders, Pieter Mol and Harald Braun, feel the decision presents a reliable future-oriented plan that will benefit customers and employees of Novamelt.  The founders had not found a suitable family succession plan.

Novamelt has gained a positive reputation within the worldwide adhesive industry over the last 25 years. It has production locations in Wehr, Germany and in North Carolina, USA. In 2014, the company reported a turnover of approximately 50 million Euro and employs 100 people.

The location in Wehr, Germany will play an important role in the integration process as a center of competence for hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives. Customer focus, rapid response and flexibility for all commercial and technical items will remain intact. Furthermore, Novamelt’s, HM pressure sensitive adhesive technology will be locally available outside Europe and the USA through the use of local Henkel production sites. The current CEO of Novamelt Harald Braun will guide this transfer process.

Both parties agreed not to disclose any financial details of the transaction. Closing of the acquisition is subject to approval from the anti-trust authorities.
