High Speed Applicator-Plus-Labels System Launched by NZ Printer

Label and Litho Limited - the leading label printing company in Wellington, New Zealand - has announced a joint venture with JetStick Limited for the supply of a high-speed label application system for individually labelling fresh fruit and produce. JetStick is a non-contact application system achieving an application rate of up to 15 labels per second with equipment that is both noise and maintenance free while being competitively priced in the market place, says the company.
David Kincaid, md of Label and Litho Limited says the system was three years in development and a number of trial sites were operating in the United States, Australia and New Zealand through 2003. Label and Litho Limited had the major role in developing a suitable self-adhesive stock that would cope with the specialist demands of a very high speed application system. At the same time, both FDA and BVVg approvals are essential due to the very high levels of export of fruit and produce from New Zealand to the United States and European markets.
Label printers will be sought in selected markets with the rights to market both the JetStick application machines and the self-adhesive labels to support the system. ‘Label and Litho Limited foresee a huge opportunity for growth in this business due to the ever-expanding consciousness of brand awareness in the consumer market and quality assurance provided by branding,’ concluded Kincaid.
