Inaugurated in September 2017, ADIKC houses equipment from suppliers including Gallus, HP Indigo, Flint Group, Prati, Esko, Dupont, Marks Print, amongst others.

‘There was a gap in the variable data printing knowledge base at ADIKC that has been successfully bridged with the introduction of Armor,’ said Naveen Serrao, manager, Labels and Graphic Material, SAPSSA Knowledge Centre, Avery Dennison Innovation & Knowledge Centre. ‘This collaboration is aimed at educating customers on the concept and benefits of thermal transfer printing and to update them about new developments in this field. Armor has offered strong technical support that remains available to customers at ADIKC, which provides training to customers and does customized testing for them as well while also helping them with any trouble shooting that may be required.’

Mark Day, vice president and general manager Asia at Armor, said: ‘It’s a great opportunity to partner with Avery Dennison and showcase how our product range can offer solutions for different applications. It’s a strong collaboration for both the companies and will help to promote a high quality solution to customers rather than a price led product. We believe thermal transfer is one of the most cost-effective ways to print variable information on demand and collaborating with ADIKC is a great way to showcase the benefits of this technology.’

This partnership between Avery Dennison and Armor was formalized in October 2018. Armor shared technical presentations with ADIKC and conducted training to ensure correct information is shared with the industry. ‘The training module was jointly developed with Armor and includes the technical presentation from the company,’ Serrao added.

‘Armor is now part of our training module. There are many customers who come to the knowledge center to upgrade or enhance their knowledge so it’s very useful and relevant component in terms of knowledge sharing.’

‘We have received very positive feedback ever since we started our first training sessions. We intend to continue taking the feedback and bring right amount of technical support to those trainings as required by customers,’ assured Day.
