The UPM Raflatac Changshu factory has been recognized as an advanced corporation in its environmental efforts and accomplishments by the Changshu Economic Development Zone.

This recognition reflects the strengthening of on-site environmental management and UPM Raflatac’s response to new environmental laws and requirements from the local authorities. UPM Raflatac has improved its environmental performance at its Changshu factory by implementing carbon filtering systems, reducing hazardous waste, managing waste and flammable storage, eliminating ethyl acetate usage and by reducing water consumption and waste water.

UPM Raflatac is implementing the Biofore Site concept to improve the sustainability performance of its production sites. This concept is aligned with UN Sustainability development goals and provides a framework for meeting the UPM 2030 responsibility targets in environmental, social and economic performance.

‘Our aim is to create a strong sustainability culture, increasing transparency, demonstrating our commitment towards the 2030 responsibility targets and bring sustainable actions to everyday work,’ said Jukka Piitulainen, general manager, APAC factories, paper laminates SBU, UPM Raflatac.

‘Our sustainability actions in China and elsewhere around the world clearly demonstrate that UPM Raflatac is the partner of choice for customers, end-users, suppliers and other stakeholders.’
