Codimag installs first Aniflo offset press in US

All American Label has installed a Codimag Viva 420 intermittent waterless offset press with hybrid flexographic components at its facility in Dublin, California. This is the first press with Aniflo technology sold into North America. The 16in Viva 420 includes stations for hot foil, screen printing, flexo coating, embossing and die-cutting.

Aniflo technology inthe Viva 420 brings more color control and consistency to package print production by using anilox and a sophisticated heating system to control ink density

Codimag, a printing machinery manufacturer based in France, designed Aniflo technology into the Viva 420 to bring more color control and consistency to package print production by using anilox and a sophisticated heating system to control ink density. Used in combination with offset inks and offset printing plates, Aniflo removes many variables involved in traditional offset production.

Said Steve Leiben, VP of sales for Matik, the North America distributor for Codimag, ‘we’ve noticed at the last two shows in Chicago that the perception of American printers using digital technology is changing. Label printers are looking for a solution that can print short to medium run lengths cost effectively with offset print quality.'

Codimag has been active in the wine label business in Europe for many years, manufacturing presses that effectively produce on paper and film substrates since 1999. Today it has around 200 offset machines in-use globally.

Said Pierre Panel, export manager at Codimag, ‘The Viva 420 is an offset press that’s easier to control because of the Aniflo. Aniflo makes offset more efficient. It’s faster to set up a job, which is important for the wine business because you don't want to waste too much material.

‘The technical people at All American Label are very good, and we’re very happy to have our first regional installation there.'
