Custom Labels to use Mark Andy P5 for move into film labels and flexible packaging

US converter Custom Labels has installed a 13in (330mm), 7-color Mark Andy Performance Series P5 press that forms part of the company’s plans to grow into the film label and flexible packaging markets.

With 95 percent of its pre-press handled in-house, and the added capacity of a new CTC turret rewinder due to be installed in the first quarter of 2016, Custom Labels is predicting a three-fold growth in business over the next few years. Installed at its new double-size production facility, the press is also equipped with delam/relam capability. It is already running a single-shift, producing predominantly paper-based labels.

‘The Mark Andy P5 combines speed with precision and is remarkably easy to operate. In fact our pressmen have required very little training and are already obtaining outstanding results, including one difficult job that requires the use of a remoistenable adhesive.’

The addition of the P5 to an existing Mark Andy 4120, and both Rotoflex and Arpeco inspection rewinders, is a key component of that growth plan. ‘We need to meet and exceed the expectations of our customers, and also try to anticipate their future demands – the flexible capacity of a Mark Andy’s Performance Series press will allow us to do that.’
