Monarch Graphics India has transitioned from letterpress to flexo printing with a 9-color Gallus ECS 340. Alpine Containers in Jammu ventured into label printing with an 8-color ECS 340.

Global Packaging & Boards in Bengaluru and Gujarat Print Pack in Mehsana each installed a 10-color ECS 340 press – equipped with screen, cold foil, automation and auto register control – at their respective plants.

A similar 9-color ECS 340 and 8-color EM 280 have been installed at Mudrika Labels in Mumbai. Mudrika now runs a total of six Gallus machines.

At the Avery Dennison Knowledge Center (ADKC) in Bengaluru, a Gallus EM 280 has been replaced by an 8-color Gallus ECS 340 which can run a variety of substrates. Samir Patkar, managing director of Gallus India, said: ‘This further strengthens the strong commitment and initiative from Gallus and Avery Dennison along with other partners towards developing Indian markets through imparting knowledge, education and skill development associated with the label industry.’ The Gallus EM 280 installed at ADKC has gone to Positive Labels in Bengaluru, now part of the Huhtamaki Group.

A 10-color Gallus ECS 340, specially designed to print tube laminates, is currently being installed at Padma Group in Bangladesh.

‘We have already installed 12 ECS 340 presses in India, seven of them since January 2015,’ commented Patkar. With new installations underway, the Gallus ECS 340 is increasing in popularity among label printers and serving applications beyond just self-adhesive labels. Our new installation in Bangladesh is for printing tube laminates, while many other new installations in India are doing shrink sleeves and in-mold labels.

‘Since 2009, when the Gallus ECS 340 was launched at Labelexpo Europe, we have installed more than 300 machines globally and the numbers are increasing rapidly.’

Other presses installed in India in 2015 include a 9-color servo Gallus EM 280 with IST UV, cold foil unit and auto register control at Wintek Flexo Prints, a division of Signode India, based in Rudrapur. The Rudrapur site, which houses the press, was opened recently to complement the company’s existing plant in Bengaluru.

One of the bigger installations has been at ITC Packaging and Boards in Chennai with the new Gallus EMS 430 with short web. This is the second Gallus EMS 430 at the factory.

Amar Chhajed, managing director of Webtech Labels, opted for a 9-color Gallus EM 280 with cold foil for the company’s factory in Parwanoo. This is the second such machine at Webtech Labels – the first was installed in 2014 at the company’s new plant in Hyderabad.

Gallus India will shortly install a 10-color Gallus EM 280 with IST UV, screen printing and cold foiling at Kumar Labels, based in Greater Noida. The company has just moved to its new facility at Greater Noida.
Ahmedabad-based Art O Print, one of the leading pharma packaging providers, has also ordered a highly configured Gallus ECS 340 which will be delivered soon.

The Gallus team in India has sold more than 90 presses and hopes to soon reach the landmark 100th installation.
