Herzog Etiketten invests in Mark Andy P5

German label converter Herzog Etiketten has installed a Mark Andy Performance Series P5 press at its headquarters in the Rhineland Palatinate.

The family business, which was established in 1929 in nearby Bad Bergzabern to produce commercial print and continuous stationery, moved into label production in 1994 with a Mark Andy 2200 flexo press

The family business, which was established in 1929 in nearby Bad Bergzabern to produce commercial print and continuous stationery, moved into label production in 1994 with a Mark Andy 2200 flexo press. This switch gave the company a broader product base at the time when demand for its traditional print was declining.

So successful was the new venture into labels that the 2200 was followed by a Mark Andy 4150 and then two Mark Andy LP3000 presses, which prompted a move to the new greenfield site in Rohrbach in 1999.

Now under the management of Rolf Herzog, the company specializes in the production of high quality labels for the food, wine and tire industries, as well as labels for special applications.

The new P5 is an 8-color press with a 340mm web width, and was sold by Print Concept Graphische Maschinen, Mark Andy’s representative in southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  It is fitted with automatic register on the printing and die-cutting units, Mark Andy’s QCDC, a BST video inspection system, delam/relam facility and a web translator for multilayer production, which allows Herzog Etiketten to offer an even wider range of label products to its portfolio of customers.

‘We chose the P5 because we believe it is the best of the new generation of flexo presses, and because we have a long and satisfactory working relationship with Mark Andy and its technology,’ stated Rolf Herzog.
