Lageen buys DigiFlex FlexoJet 1725

Lageen Tuboplast, an international manufacturer and supplier of a variety of tubes to the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, has installed a DigiFlex FlexoJet 1725 as it looks to bring the full production process, including pre-press operations, in-house.

Lageen Tuboplast is a part of Lageen Group, and based in Kibbutz Yagur in northern Israel. It manufactures both plastic and aluminum tubes for customers in Israel and Europe, and prints using flat and rotary screen, dry offset and flexo.

Its investment in a DigiFlex FlexoJet 1725 has allowed it to replace film-based pre-press processes, and move towards bringing the entire production of tubes in-house.

Lageen Tuboplast production manager Yoni Keinan said: ‘We believe that the entire tube production process, including pre-press, should be in-house

‘It came to a point that we realized the trend of moving to digital, and film that technology is disappearing. In addition, we had to enhance our quality to better compete in the market and serve our growing customer base.

‘We were looking for a CtP solution for several months, testing many options. Previously, we never managed to get the quality needed for highlights and shadows, and now we do.’

The price/performance ratio was another major consideration or Lageen Tuboplast, and Keinan said: ‘DigiFlex has provided us with the best price/performance offer, with superb quality at a very attractive price.

‘Aside from the attractive equipment price to begin with, I have managed to save up to 40,000 EUR (46,000 USD) a year on special, very high quality jobs I used to outsource.

‘I’m also saving on plates because with the DigiFlex system I’m still using the analog plates which are less expensive. Moreover, with the silk screens I don’t need to use the DigiFlex primer so I’m also saving on consumables.

‘Lastly, and this is something I can’t even quantify in dollar value, we managed to reduce the production cycle time by more than 15 percent because we now do not need to process any films.’

Keinan added: ‘The fact that we can use one machine to run with various printing technologies was a big advantage for us.’
