R.F. Etichette installs first Dilli NeoMercury in Italy

Label printer R.F. Etichette has installed the first Dilli NeoMercury NM-350W digital label press in Italy.

R.F. Etichette was looking to update its equipment portfolio to increase productivity while maintaining the quality of its print output

R.F. Etichette provides design, pre-press, print and finishing services on its flexo machines, specialising in producing a wide range of self-adhesive and non-self-adhesive labels for trade customers.

NeoMercury NM-350W incorporates single-pass greyscale piezo printheads with a droplet size as small as three picolitres. The selection of printing resolutions of 600 DPI, 900 DPI or 1200 DPI, combined with the small droplet size and the grey levels, generates sharp, well-defined images and text and a wide color gamut, Dilli said. A programmable LED pinning system between the colors ensures an optimal drying result while reducing heat generation and energy consumption.

The press has a standard 50m/min running speed and a web width of up to 350mm, with the ability to print on a material thickness range of 25-600 micron. It uses high-definition UV inks with highly opaque white ink to further boost color vibrancy while enhancing application versatility by allowing printing on transparent film and metallic paper and foil or to print tactile effects on standard substrates turning them into luxury labels. It is also equipped with an automated head cleaning function.

R.F. Etichette was looking to update its equipment portfolio to increase productivity while maintaining the quality of its print output, and decided to invest in the NeoMercury NM-350W UV label press after witnessing its productivity on Labelexpo Europe 2015. R.F. Etichette representatives also visited another Dilli customer site in Sweden, while the company trialed several presses.

‘The NeoMercury NM-350W is an interesting choice for us,’ said Andrea Covri, who will personally operate the NeoMercury NM-350W at R.F. Etichette. ‘Not only does it enable us to transfer all the small and medium runs from our flexo presses that we used to print uneconomically on a more and more frequent basis, but it also increases our production speeds and delivers the high quality print that our customers demand.

‘With Dilli the solution we can efficiently switch production from flexo to digital, and vice-versa, according to machines set programs, workload and urgencies. We are better equipped to satisfy our clients now.’

R.F. Etichette co-owner Roberto Gasbarro added: ‘We pride ourselves on offering a first class service and fast delivery thanks to our team’s high level of commitment and now with the flexibility of the NeoMercury we can further increase our number of deliveries as well as print longer runs jobs, satisfying more clients at higher profitability levels.

‘We create further savings by not having to overlaminate or varnish the labels printed on the Dilli machine as they come off the press with a high gloss level and natural high scratch resistance and perfect weatherability. We also print with high level of reliability on a wider range of media than ever before. These benefits will help us to open new doors for more applications and more clients.  Our future is in good hands with Dilli.’

The digital label press was installed at R.F. Etichette’s facility near Monza in April and commenced printing labels for customers in the same week. R.F. Etichette has also invested in a near-line high speed semi rotary finishing machine.
