Rotocon sells second Screen Truepress Jet L350UV in South Africa

HP Labelling, a South African self-adhesive label producer, has invested in a Screen Truepress Jet L350UV, with the capabilities of the high-speed inkjet press platform key to its decision to invest.

The order by HP Labelling for its Cape Town manufacturing facility is Rotocon’s second sale of a Screen Truepress Jet L350UV in less than a year since it was appointed as a reseller of the inkjet label press technology

The Screen Truepress Jet L350UV prints at up to 50m/min on a 350mm web, and using Screen's proprietary high-definition CMYK+W UV inks, can produce a wide gamut of vibrant colors and smooth tones at high resolution.

HP Labelling is one of South Africa's largest label producers with expertise in flexo printing of self-adhesive labels, in addition to the production of nursery and log tags, automotive metal labels, plain label manufacturing and thermal ribbon supply, and thermal printing machines and systems.

It serves customers across southern Africa with two dedicated manufacturing plants in Johannesburg and Cape Town, with sales offices in Durban, Port Elizabeth and East London.

HP Labelling Cape Town conducted numerous print trials at the Screen demonstration center in Amsterdam, The Netherlands before making the decision to invest.

HP Labelling Cape Town general manager David White said: ‘Andrew [Mantell, HP Labelling Cape Town operations manager] and I were extremely pleased with every printed label sample Screen provided.

‘The high print quality, fast machine operating speed and throughput, and a positive return on investment analysis led to our decision to invest in the Screen Truepress Jet L350UV to complement our flexographic print production capabilities.’

Pascal Aengenvoort, Rotocon sales director, added: ‘It has been an exciting 10 months since we began representing the Screen Truepress Jet L350UV in South Africa. We are pleased to secure our second sale and honoured that Chris Bobbert, chief executive officer of HP Labelling, flew to Cape Town to officially sign the order, in addition to a celebratory visit by Brian Filler, president of Screen Europe and Mark Sherman, area director of Screen Europe.

‘With our field technician receiving extensive training on-site at Screen for the Truepress Jet L350UV, we are well-positioned to locally serve customers in South Africa with a digital solution for short-run label printing.’
