Schweikert Druck targets new markets with Polar Digicut laser cutter
German printer Schweikert Druck has invested in a Polar Digicut which it intends to use to target new markets.

Polar Digicut is a laser cutting system that can cut, perforate, crease and engrave in a single pass without the need for a tool change. Batches from a single copy to several hundred can be produced economically using Digicut, according to Polar. A small selection of products that can be manufactured with the Digicut includes cards, invitations, envelopes, folders, writing paper, samples, business cards, place cards, lanterns, jigsaws and bookmarks. High-quality, bespoke packaging can also be produced using Digicut.
Schweikert Druck, based in Obersulm, has become one of the first to buy a Polar Digicut, along with fellow German printer drucken123. It produces a range of commercial print work, as well as some promotional packaging, and Jürgen Schweikert, owner of Schweikert Druck, said: ‘I am really fascinated by the fields of application the Digicut provides. We can make many new products which allow me to offer my customer an added value. Besides, my pre-press staff are very inventive and I’m sure they can create a lot of these designs themselves.’
Markus Müller, managing director of drucken123, added: ‘I have many other ideas about what to produce on the Digicut. I’m really looking forward to getting the machine.’
