Golden Era, a packaging and printing company, deals in corrugated and carton packaging, printing self-adhesive labels, shrink sleeves and plastic blow molding. Established in 1995, the label division of the company houses seven Gallus letterpresses and other silk screening machines. The company installed a Gallus RCS 330 offset press in 2015 at its premises in Mogwase, North West of Johannesburg. Golden Era is the first company in southern Africa to install a ThermoFlexX 60-S imager supplied by Xeikon’s pre-press division in Belgium. The premises also runs an HP Indigo WS6800 digital press for high volume and packaging production.

Sumit Chakraborty, regional finance manager and ERP project lead at Golden Era, said: ‘With growing demand and steady growth of our group, ERP was inevitable. We did not have any ERP in the production environment prior to Param. We were looking for a package that is customizable, user-friendly and can be integrated with our existing systems.’

The first phase of execution has begun and is expected to go live on March 1 with one of the companies within the group.

‘We have high expectations from Param ERP. In the initial phase, we look forward to eliminating bottlenecks in production planning and sales. With Param ERP, we see potential savings in manpower in production planning and execution stages,’ added Chakraborty.
