Stampiton Labels makes MPS press investment
UK printer Stampiton Labels has purchased its first MPS flexo press, a recently installed 8-color EF model.

Stampiton Labels, located in the heart of the Peak District, has purchased the 8-color flexo press with a web width of 520mm to increase production capacity in its core business area of milk labels. Its labels are printed on a wide range of materials, with the press required to hold register and die-cut at very high print speeds on a wide range of substrates.
As a result, registration, as well as waste reduction, were key elements for Stampiton Labels when selecting its first MPS press.
Stampiton Labels is the largest dairy label producer in the UK, and services the trade markets with stock A4 and fan-folded labels as well as providing bespoke labels to the office products, computer, multimedia and dairy/food markets.
It operates 16 presses and utilizes flexo, UV letterpress and offset litho print processes. In addition, Stampiton has its own full in-house design and repro facilities and a unique in-house coating facility for hot-melt and water-based acrylic adhesive laminates. Stampiton is part of the Klimax Group, a group founded by Klimax to join forces with a number of other labeling and packaging companies to initiate a larger European presence.
The label printing company Klimax was founded in 1959, with the group structure brought about in the mid-2000s including the acquisitions of LPS Labels and Etiflex in 2006, and Stampiton Labels in 2008. In 2009, this was supplemented with the acqusition of Etik-tryk, Interket A/S and Wäsch Labels & Systems. Today, Klimax Group operates four manufacturing sites across Europe with capabilities in all printing technologies.
Klimax Group recently bought three MPS press lines, including the one for Stampiton Labels.
The MPS EF flexo press installed is also equipped with MPS’s APC Advanced automation extension package, which includes double servo positioning motors for print sleeves and material thickness settings.
Nick Tyrer, sales director of MPS Systems UK, said: ‘We are pleased to receive this new order from a reputable label printer in the UK. Coupled with Stampiton’s in-house coating expertise, its new MPS EF flexo press will further extend its capacity of label production in environments of high-speed dairy bottling lines.’
