Stars Printing & Labels installs first flexo press
Stars Printing & Labels, based in the New Industrial Area of Umm al-Quwain in the UAE, has installed a Mark Andy 2200 press at its production facility.

With an already well established set-up utilizing offset and digital printing, the addition of a Mark Andy 2200 flexo press is helping Stars Printing & Labels offer a comprehensive label printing portfolio to its customers.
Increasing customer demands prompted the printer to invest in its first flexo press, and Bino Thomas, managing director of the company, said: ‘The addition of the Mark Andy 2200 has resulted in drastic reduction in make-ready, both in time and material. Our capabilities have significantly increased and with increased production speed, we can now take on more projects with shorter lead times.’
The sale and installation was completed through Flexo Image Graphics (FIG), Mark Andy’s agent for the UAE.
‘The Mark Andy 2200 purchase press was finalized during Labelexpo India in New Delhi in November last year after evaluating a variety of press manufacturers,’ Thomas added. ‘We were always exploring ways to improve our productivity. It was a very tough task to make a final decision on selection of brand for our first flexo press. After comparing the features of the Mark Andy 2200 press with other flexo presses, we are convinced that Mark Andy and FIG will continue to serve our needs for many years as we grow.
‘When we look to add another press, it will be a Mark Andy.’
FIG managing director Gourav Roy said: ‘The Mark Andy 2200 is the perfect press for smaller runs in the face of changing market dynamics. As we advance to better flexo press requirements in the future, we will have an excellent hold onto our existing capacity vis-à-vis the addition of the new flexographic printing process. We have built our business around its technology, and we are very successful.’
