Indian label printer Wonderpac, based in Kundli near Delhi, is expanding its infrastructure and adding new machines to diversify into in-mold labeling.

onderpac also installed a Rotoflex VSI 330 slitter inspection rewinder in late 2016

Currently operating from a 4800 sq ft facility, the company has finished construction on the adjacent land that spans across the same area. The new facility will house a 3-color Ruian RY320 all UV flexo press for printing in-mold labels and a Rhyguan TOP330 die-cutting machine expected to be installed by the end of February 2017. Wonderpac also installed a Rotoflex VSI 330 slitter inspection rewinder in late 2016.

A multi-functional die-cutting machine, Rhyguan TOP330, features a suction conveyer for in-mold labels. It can be shifted from rotary to semi-rotary mode for cutting in-mold labels. Rhyguan Machinery, a Chinese label converting and finishing equipment company, is represented by Flexo Image Graphics (FIG) in India.

Speaking on diversification, Trilok Mittal, director at Wonderpac, said: ‘We are talking to the ice cream industry for tapping growth opportunities. Sampling is underway and we hope to get first mover advantage. Margins are being squeezed and raw material prices are on the rise in the pressure sensitive label industry. So, I am looking at diversifying into this business to help earn additional margins.’

Gourav Roy, FIG managing director, said: ‘Wonderpac and FIG have grown together over years. The company started production with Mark Andy 2200 and went on to print many unconventional jobs with a range of Mark Andy presses installed at the factory. Wonderpac has now become our first customer for Rhyguan machine as well. We are proud of being the company’s preferred supplier and wish the company good growth with new installations.’

The company started manufacturing BOPP tapes in 1988 and switched to trading tapes and holograms in 1999. Wonderpac started production at their factory in Kundli in December 2005. The facility currently houses an 8-color Mark Andy 2200 that was installed in 2011 and an 8-color Mark Andy Performance Series P5 installed in 2012. ‘We are evaluating investment in another wide web flexo press,’ concluded Mittal.

The company is catering to FMCG, liquor, pesticide, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. Exports to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Dubai contribute to 25 percent of the company’s turnover.
