John Price installs new Komori Lithrone

Birmingham, UK-based Giro Group has increased capacity at its printing company, John Price Printers, with the recent installation of a new Komori Lithrone S1029.

It joins four- and five-color Lithrone 29s, both fitted with coaters, at the company’s Bilston plant. Giro acquired John Price three years ago, and since the installation of a five-color Komori in 2010, has added work that it now wants to turnaround faster and more competitively.

Family-run Giro was established 40 years ago, and is now one of the UK’s leading suppliers to the catering industry, with emphasis on ethnic ingredients and foodstuffs, and its own brand label, Winflo. The company plans to introduce more packaged goods suitable for the fast food market, and this was a further consideration in the decision to purchase the new Komori.

Javed Sarwar (pictured, top), managing director of the Giro Group, said: '‘We know the Lithrones handle packaging well and there are several specialist finishing houses we can use to complete the carton work we print.

'We will bring finishing in-house if we find this side of our businesses grows, which seems likely with the increased awareness of the recycling benefits of cartonboard in the packaging market.'
