Colombian label printer Topasa increases productivity with Xeikon CX3 digital press

Colombian label printer Topasa has invested in a Xeikon CX3 digital press, the first of this model sold into Latin America.

Xeikon introduced the CX3 to the Latin American market at the recent Andina-Pack in Bogotá, Colombia

Topasa has been in business for more than 40 years and is structured into four business units – Industrial Label, Label Shrink, Label Security and Promotional Label.

Xeikon said the investment decision is a critical element of Topasa’s growth strategy, which also includes a planned move to a new facility in Guarne, Antioquía. The new facility will be equipped with a state-of-the-art physical and technological infrastructure designed to meet the highest quality standards, including those specified by ISO and GMP. These strategic investments will allow the company to produce 50 percent more square meters of labels per month, as the label printer looks to reach more potential customers and develop new market niches with competitive prices and the highest quality in the market.

Following an intensive search for a press that would reduce costs while offering increased productivity, Topasa chose the Xeikon CX3. It is currently being installed and replaces an existing Xeikon 3300 digital press.

Luis Carlos Lopez, Topasa president and CEO, said: ‘We decided for the Xeikon CX3 because of its very high quality, high speed printing, and its ability to produce a wider range of products for our customers. These are characteristics that will make a difference when it comes to optimizing our workflow and offering better alternatives for our customers.

‘The Xeikon CX3 helps us to speed up delivery times and ensure high-definition image quality for our self-adhesive labels. The speed of the press, its print quality and number of available colors, its full rotation printing technology and dry toner electrophotography were all important considerations in making this investment decision. A printing speed of 30m/min makes the 5-color CX3 digital label printer the fastest in its class while its true resolution of 1200 DPI ensures the highest quality on a wide range of substrates. The Xeikon CX3 already accounts for 30 percent of our production.’

Xeikon, which was acquired by Flint Group last week, introduced the CX3 to the Latin American market at the recent Andina-Pack in Bogotá, Colombia.
