Coveris wins Label of the Year at UK Packaging Awards

Coveris has won the 2014 Label of the Year prize in this year’s UK Packaging Awards, which were presented last night at an event in London.

Other entries in the Label of the Year category came from Anglia Labels (Maxi Nutrition Promax Chocolate 960g entry), Asda (Extra Special Sausages entry), Forza Supplements (Raspberry K2 entry) and Kingsland (Shorn Pinot Noir entry).

Rick Smith, senior category manager in Coveris’ Ambient division, said: ‘Testament to our heritage in labels, this award provides the ultimate in industry recognition for our UK business, and allows us to demonstrate that through our customer-focussed model, we have led and continue to lead the way for innovation, quality and service in the UK labels market.’

Coveris was also highly commended in the labels category, alongside Asda, for the Extra Special sausage packs entry, which featured its Slidewrap fully removable linerless label system.

Label of the Year 2013 went to Printpack and its work with the Share a Coke project.

Other winners in the 2014 competition included: RPC Group, which as named Packaging Company of the Year; AJS LAbels in the Investment Project of the Year category for establishing AJS North; Multi Packaging Solutions with the Absolut Vodka Tubes entry in the Limited Edition of the Year category; Benson Group with the Benson Delicious Quesadilla entry in the Best New Concept category; and Alexir Partnership in the Cartonboard of the Year category with the Peppersmith clip strip entry. The Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE) UK took the CSR Initivative of the Year prize after the opening of the UK’s only beverage carton recycling plant.
