EFI has acquired Lector Computersysteme, a print management information system (MIS) developer based in Mönchengladbach, Germany.

EFI acquires Lector Computersysteme

Lector is a provider of German-language MIS software, and the acquisition will strengthen EFI’s MIS leadership position in Europe.

Lector’s MIS products will become part of the EFI Productivity Software family of products, and its technology will be integrated with EFI wide format and EFI VUTEk superwide format inkjet printers, as well as with EFI Fiery, the leading digital front end platform for Xerox, Canon, Ricoh and Konica Minolta printers and copiers.

EFI will also continue to support the existing Lector client base, which consists of approximately 1,000 customers.

Lector’s employees have joined EFI and will report to Sean Whelan, director of EMEA region operations within EFI’s Productivity Software business.

Marc Olin, EFI’s interim chief financial officer, and senior vice-president and general manager of the company’s Productivity Software business, said: ‘Germany has always been one of the world’s largest printing industry markets, so we are pleased to have Lector Computersysteme join EFI.’

Frank Mertzbach, founder and former owner of Lector Computersysteme, added: ‘EFI continues to prove it is a world-class provider when it comes to helping printing companies improve their management operations and grow profitably. We are excited to give our customers access to technology from the world’s leading developer of print MIS software.’
