Across its entire range of label presses, Focus Label Machinery has a total of 40 models already installed in India, of which 12 are pressure-sensitive label presses. Monotech Systems will initially target the Indian market with the new presses, the Proflex and Eflex. These two presses cater to a full range of flexo needs, including pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves and in-mold labels, amongst others.

Focus Label Machinery and Monotech Systems made their first public appearance at the Label Manufacturers Association of India (LMAI) Conference 2015.

Monotech Systems had been looking at new products and technologies and strategically decided to become part of the labels and packaging industry as it offers good growth opportunities. Speaking to Labels & Labeling at the LMAI event, T P Jain, managing director of Monotech Systems, said: ‘We find that a big section of offset printers believe that there will be saturation in their businesses going forward considering the way digital technology is coming into the offset market. A good number of players have already migrated to label packaging and flexo market, and we see foresee this trend strengthening going forward. So, we realized that having a good product to offer in the flexo printing segment would be good value add to our existing customer base in the offset industry. In that context, we found that Focus Label Machinery has a good product and flexible approach towards product offering to the customer which is what is required to be successful in today’s market. We are both excited to take this partnership forward.’

Kishore Kumar P S, senior manager marketing, labels and packaging division, Monotech Systems, added: ‘Focus Label Machinery is one of the few companies with complete infrastructure in-house. This gives them the advantage to customize their products without depending on an external resource. So, customers can also expect customization for Indian presses as well.’

‘We have full support from Focus in terms of technical knowledge transfer and sales and marketing initiatives. Once we start getting some business in the Indian market, engineers will be trained so customers who buy Focus press in India can get the service from India. We will club our in-house products with Focus presses and bring post sales service to customer’s doorstep.’

Focus Label Machinery is to continue its partnership with Label Planet, which will now focus only on the textile label market in the region.

Antony Cotton, technical sales manager at Focus Label Machinery, said: ‘We want to reposition our brand in the Indian market and keep up with some big players in the market. There’s not so much of an overlap between narrow web flexo and textile label markets anymore. In more recent years, many label printers have started doing more specialized jobs in printing labels. So, one stop shop doesn’t work for all products. It’s time for Focus to concentrate on two segments separately.’

‘We wanted a company to represent Focus Label Machinery as an established product in the market with a good reputation. We are confident Monotech Systems will increase our reach in the Indian market.’

‘We are an India-centric company and will continue to focus on domestic market in the near future. Our aim is to get a good share in the market and then look at overseas market,’ concluded Jain.

At Labelexpo Europe 2015, Focus Label Machinery will launch a new 6-color Proflex with top loading print station. Other presses on the show floor will include an Eflex flexo press and an 8-color Dflex inkjet system.
