FTA holds successful annual forum

The Flexographic Technical Association’s (FTA’s) 2013 annual forum has been hailed as a success by the association and members of the flexographic printing industry in attendance.

Technical seminars were part of the forum program

Around 1,600 attendees were at the four-day event, entitled "Right Here, Right Now", at the Marriott Marquis & Marina hotel in downtown San Diego, California.

The event included eight technical sessions, an awards banquet and an alfresco President's Reception. Discussions included food safety, emerging technologies, process controls, automated workflows, print buyer demands and expanded color gamut.

Vic Corenflos, senior printing technical manager at Bemis, described the technical sessions as ‘very relevant’, and said: ‘[It was] very much in line with what printers have been challenged with; [I] loved the new concepts and ideas presented – even those that are not yet fully baked.’

Next year's FTA annual forum will take place on April 27-30, 2014 in Baltimore, Maryland. Chairing the event will be Pepper Stokes, of Robbie Fantastic Flexibles, and Jessica Harkins, technologies manager at Anderson & Vreeland.
