Gallus launches DCS 340 press

Gallus announced the commercial launch of the DCS 340 digital converting system, developed in a joint project with Heidelberg and FujiFilm. The DCS 340 press images at 1200 x 1200dpi and runs at 50m/min in up to eight colors - a seven color extended gamut set plus White. It integrates UV flexo print units and finishing modules from the ECS 340 ‘granite’ press.

According to Heidelberg’s head of digital development Jason Oliver, a key feature is the integrated Heidelberg Prinect workflow – the first time this has been developed to control both conventional and digital print modules.

Inks for the DCS 340 are provided via Heidelberg’s Saphira consumables program, priced ‘at a level appropriate for the market’.

Gallus also announced new developments on its conventional press range. The ECS 340 has been upgraded with a new high-speed matrix stripper, while the RCS 430 has been completely revamped, most notably in its web control system.

Gallus gave an update on its Tempo 120 Screeny program, aiming to get Screen printing up to a speed of 120 m/min in combination with UV flexo printing. Metallic doming based on screen printing was also demonstrated.
