KBA Australasia adds CI flexo presses to its offering

KBA Australasia is now offering CI flexo presses as the group seeks to expand its footprint with CI flexo web presses for flexible packaging in Australia and New Zealand.

KBA-Flexotecnica Neo XD LR is available in up to 12 colors

The subsidiary in Australasia has signed a sales and service agreement with KBA-Flexotecnica, which has seen Peter Stewart join as sales manager.

KBA said flexible packaging, produced predominantly using flexo and gravure, is the highest growing packaging segment with a global annual growth rate of 4-5 percent. This has coincided with advances in print quality achieved through developments in pre-press, printing forms and color management, and advances in sustainability and environmentally process with the use of low migration and migration-free inks. ‘Here flexo has clear advantages over gravure through its lower use of solvents and a new generation of water-based or radiation-curable inks for non-absorbent substrates,’ said KBA in a statement.

KBA-Flexotecnica has introduced the Neo XD LR, as detailed here, which was demonstrated at drupa 2016. The press is engineered for handling water-based and solvent-based inks, as well as UV LED and EB ink systems.

Dave Lewis, general manager of KBA Australasia, said: ‘Services for existing flexo customers are thus secured and we are able to strengthen our position in this growth market considerably. We have gained an experienced sales manager for the cutting-edge presses from KBA-Flexotecnica with Peter Stewart.’
