The Flexographic Technical Association’s (FTA) 2005 inductee into its Hall of Fame was announced as Dennis (Denny) McGee. McGee is best known for his involvement with Mark Andy/Comco, where he worked for 15 years. However, he started his career as a sales rep for DuPont in Milwaukee and has also worked for Olympic Label Systems, Stanford, Nilpeter and Gallus. McGee retired from Mark Andy/Comco earlier this year.
Active in FTA since the early 1970s, Denny McGee participated in a series of Saturday Workshop programs and served as an advisor to Fox Valley Technical College at the time it launched its flexo curriculum. He was elected to FTA’s Board of Directors (1997) and the Foundation of FTA’s Board of Trustees (1998), and completed two full terms in 2004. In serving the association, he at one point headed up the Flexo in High School program and was recognized for his accomplishments in that area through bestowal of an FTA President’s Award. Eventually, Denny served as vice chairman for the Project Evaluation Committee and FTA treasurer. He held seats on both the Membership Committee and Forum Committee, and chaired the 2001 Forum’s Folding Carton Session.
“To keep flexo in the forefront and growing in the minds of consumer product companies, all of us in the flexo industry have to lead with lean tactics and practice operational excellence in all phases of our business,” McGee says. “The flexo process depends on its customers to be best-in-class packaging providers in quality, time to market and best overall value.”
His message is constant and motivational: “Don’t stop at labels. Go on to cartons. Enter the realm of flexible packaging. Successfully pursue any and every new business opportunity that presents itself.”
