Miyakoshi introduces fastest semi-rotary UV wet offset press for labels at drupa

Japanese offset press specialist Miyakoshi Printing Machinery is to launch the MLP-H semi-rotary UV wet offset press at drupa 2016, with a printing speed of 121m/min.

MLP-H was showcased at a Miyakoshi Europe Open House on March 17

MLP-H is available in 350mm and 420mm web widths, offering 330mm and 406mm print widths. It can handle a substrate range from 70-300 micron.

The 121m/min printing speed is achievable due to the combination of a running speed of 300 impressions per minute with a repeat length of 406.4mm (16in). Miyakoshi said this matches flexo/letterpress press productivity, adding that the high productivity of MLP-H makes it suitable for short and mid-length runs of labels.

Miyakoshi said MLP-H can be a replacement model for flexo/letterpress users, who are facing tighter profits due to shorter job lengths, adding that producing labels in offset quality provides a means to win new jobs that require higher printing quality. MLP-H is also suitable for semi-rotary offset users who are looking for higher productivity to take on longer jobs.

Miyakoshi’s calculation based on its customer shows that MLP-H provides lower running cost compare to flexo/letterpress up to 30,000m. Optional screen and hot foil stamping units are also available.

First introduced to the market at Labelexpo Europe 2015, and included in L&L’s preview of new conventional press technology that was launched in Brussels, MLP-H will be available for demonstrations and sales at drupa 2016.

MLP-H was also showcased at a Miyakoshi Europe Open House on March 17. Miyakoshi established a European subsidiary in Spain last year.
