MPS announces Domino as digital partner

MPS launches at Labelexpo Europe a new flexo press integrating a Domino N610i UV inkjet print engine driven and Esko digital front end. The 330mm (13in) wide EF Symjet press offers up to 6-colors with a white option and prints at speeds ranging between 50-75 m/min.

Domino's Vlad Sljapic (R) and MPS' Bert van den Brink left celebrate partnership with the launch of the new hybrid EF SYMJET Press

Demonstrations at the show are combining UV flexo, cold foil and digital printing on the same job.

The press will initially be available in Europe with worldwide roll-out to follow.

‘This hybrid printing solution will give converters a range of new print potential with the combination of conventional and digital printing technologies, along with operator focus that MPS is known for,’ says MPS CEO Wim van den Bosch.

The conventional print and processing units on the EF Symjet are based on the EF Neo UV flexo press that MPS shows for the first time at this Labelexpo. The EF Neo features a new press software platform, revamped web tension control systems, and a larger main press operator control panel and touch screen.

The EF Neo showcases collaborations with key industry partners including GEW for the hybrid UV/LED drying system, Kocher & Beck for the new fully-automated Quick Change die unit – which allows die changeovers during production - and AVT for the PrescoNW system for the full automated process of pressure setting on the print stations.

The 430mm (17in)-wide EF Neo press will be shown printing flexible packaging materials using the GEW arcLED lamps in LED mode with low migration LED-UV inks provided by Flint. Label materials will also be converted.

Also on the MPS stand 11C20 is an EB UV flexo press.

In other initiatives, MPS is joining forces with Henkel/Novamelt, Appvion, Evonik, Maan Engineering, Ricoh, Ravenwood Packaging and Bostik in the Linerless Trail. MPS is also an official sponsor of Label Academy, which will host two master classes during Labelexpo Europe 2015: ‘Conventional Label Printing Processes’ and ‘Digital Label and Package Printing’.

MPS Printing Technology Expert Hans Poortinga will be speaking during the Conventional Label Printing Processes masterclass on Friday morning, starting at 9am.
