Printing and packaging industry bodies in Australia merge officially

An extraordinary general meeting of the Packaging Council of Australia (PCA) and the Printing Industries Association of Australia (PIAA) has confirmed the long-standing merger discussions between the two organizations, resolving to transfer PCA activities and intellectual properties to PIAA.

PCA's activities and intellectual properties are to transfer to PIAA

These include numerous industry committees, such as FSANZ, the Australian Packaging Covenant Council and the National Packaging Covenant Industry Association Committee, which will continue their activities under the combined organization’s banner.

Asked by Labels & Labeling under what banner the merger will operate, current PCA chief executive David Carter said a name for the new body had as yet to be finalized.

According to Andrew Macaulay, PIAA CEO, the merger will enable a broad range of services to be delivered to packaging businesses, represent their voice in advocating on behalf of industry and empowering the packaging sector within PIAA. He confirmed that the packaging sector will be represented on the combined board.
