Royston Labels delivers complex 'no-label look' for launch of skincare product

Royston Labels has delivered the labels for the launch of a new organic anti-ageing face oil from Saira Skin, with the ‘no-look’ label on the bottles having to match the carton packaging, which had been printed on brilliant white card.

Saira Skin is a brand established in June this year by TV personality and entrepreneur Saira Khan. The face oil, recently promoted on the television shopping channel QVC, is from the brand’s Fruits of Kashmir range.

Royston Labels looked to produce a stylish premium label that promoted the ‘exquisite nature’ of the product itself. To match an established brand style consisting of two very delicate filigree flowers, one acid green and one white, combined with silver foiling, Royston Labels trialled various substrates and print options, before opting for a synthetic substrate to promote a frosted white appearance, incorporating high raised dense black print on opaque postal green. Royston Labels also used a gloss laminate to cover due to the high level of resistance required for an oil-based product.

Phil Bradnam, Royton Labels technical manager, said: ‘We had to match the carton which had been printed on brilliant white card, and our label would be printed on a transparent substrate with the difficulty of the product color showing through the label, effecting the print.

‘Our in-house ink technical department work hard on this before going to press, saving the client and us much valuable time on the day of production.’

Sue Bird, Saira Skin creative director, said: ‘The team at Royston Labels were determined to achieve the best possible result for us and they did precisely that. We are thrilled with the finished labels and look forward to working with them again when we expand the range.’

‘We enjoy the challenges that working with leading consumer brands present,’ added Bradnam. ‘Our work with Saira Skin is indicative of the way we can help provide product differentiation, by creating an innovative package identity that will stand out and deliver.’
