At the recent annual meeting of the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI) held in Naples, Florida, Scott Pillsbury, president of Rose City Label Company, was named TLMI Converter of the Year.

Presented in conjunction with packagePrinting magazine on an annual basis, the Converter of the Year Award honors a member of the converting industry who has made an extensive contribution to the North American narrow web market and who has additionally demonstrated an unwavering commitment to TLMI.

Born and raised in the tag and label industry, Pillsbury started attending TLMI meetings as a child and throughout his career as an industry professional, his service and dedication to the association has been exceptional.

His father, Mike Pillsbury, purchased Rose City Label when Scott was in elementary school. Through his early school years, Scott had various jobs at the company and joined Rose City Label as a professional in 1994. Today, the company offers flexographic, hot stamp and digital labels to a wide-ranging customer base in the food, lumber, durable goods and beverage industries. Pillsbury’s tenure with TLMI includes ten years spent on the TLMI board of directors and two years as the association’s chairman.

John Hickey, CEO of Smyth Companies and the 2010 Converter of the Year, said: ‘Scott was a tremendous leader during some tough times as chairman of TLMI and he made it look easy. On a personal side, Scott is always great company, making him a tremendous ambassador for what the TLMI stands for. He is the consummate soft-spoken leader who listens first to understand and suggests thoughtful, collective ideas for action.’
