Toray consolidates activities in Central Europe

Toray Industries, a manufacturer of waterless offset plate technology, has consolidated all development and support activities for the European newspaper, label, packaging and printing industries in its state-of-the art Prostějov facility in the Czech Republic.

Toray Industries' centralized service in Europe is intended to deliver faster customer response

The facility is operated by Toray Textiles Central Europe (TTCE), and saw a 6,000 sq m building opened in late 2014 to accommodate expanded plate manufacturing operations. A 140m-long production line produces waterless printing plates – from the aluminium coils, through washing, coating and laminating, to cutting the finished products.

‘We chose our existing TTCE site at Prostějov for expansion as we were building increased production capacity because it is located in the heart of Europe, making it efficient to serve customers across the continent, as well as in the UK and the Americas,’ said Mitsunori Hayashi, general manager for sales in the graphic materials department at TTCE.

‘We are a relatively flat organization with direct communications to the field and short decision timeframes. By centralizing customer service, sales, marketing, production and R& D in one location, we can more effectively serve customers throughout the Toray sales regions, as well as improve internal communication as we look to continue to bring to market innovative products and solutions.’

Toray Industries will present new plates addressing the needs of different industries at drupa 2016, and Hayashi said: ‘Our new facility and our centralization efforts will help us speed development and commercialization of these and other new products in the future.’
