UK converter Superfast Labels reports Epson SurePress success

Superfast Labels, a converter based in Kent, UK, has printed six million labels in six months following the installation of the country’s first Epson SurePress L-4033A digital label press. Superfast Labels offers self-adhesive labels with fast turnaround – often in 24 hours. The addition of the SurePress L-4033A has allowed the company, previously solely a flexo house, to broaden its services into digital printing.

Andrew Miller, managing director of Superfast Labels, said: ‘In just six months since its installation, the SurePress L-4033A has printed six million labels for almost 1,000 jobs, with an average run length a shade under 10,000 labels per job. The press is already at 70 percent utilization, another milestone reached earlier than we expected.’

The addition of the 6-color SurePress L-4033A has allowed the company to expand into new markets with short-run jobs. As well as being able to print on standard labeling substrates without pre-treatments or special coatings, the SurePress L-4033A’s ability to print on textured substrates has opened new commercial opportunities with small-volume artisanal food and drink producers.

‘As jobs continue to become more complex to produce and run lengths reduce, the SurePress L-4033A is the perfect solution to cost-effective, short-run label printing,’ said Marc Tinkler, senior business development manager, industrial printing, at Epson Europe. ‘The combination of outstanding print quality, production efficiency and substrate flexibility make it a compelling solution to meet today’s demanding label printing requirements.’
