Edelmann presented the revised Star-Print range to customers at an Open House on September 20 and 21. The event was held at its production facility in Beerfelden, Germany.

The printing machine, equipped with the patented Edelmann sleeve system and an automatic bearer ring printing pressure setting, will remain in Beerfelden for the next few weeks and is available to other interested parties for further printing tests, before being delivered to a customer in Europe later in the year.

Qualified printing substrates include paper, film, laminates from 12my to 350my and cartons up to 600my.

The company said: ‘The ring bearer technological advance over competing products lies in the hydraulically tensioned wear-free offset sleeves with bearer ring technology, which have been especially designed for the new equipment. The sleeve system itself is packed in slide-in cassette.’

The cassette enables the printing machine to be equipped as a so-called variable-position hybrid version. Flexo, gravure and screen print cassettes can also be used as an open platform version. The equipment is available in widths of 52 cm, 76 cm and 92 cm as well as variable format of 610 mm to 1,118 mm. Owing to the automatic setting of the form rollers, it is not necessary to adjust the rollers after a format change, thus significantly reducing set-up time.

The Star-Print configuration with six offset and two flexo printing unit currently on display in Beerfelden, includes hot-air drying with explosion protection against solvent-based inks. UV and EB drying are also possible.
