Global Graphics unveils Harlequin Multi-Level Digital Screening

Global Graphics Software is launching Harlequin Multi-Level Digital Screening, a software tool that has been designed to increase the output quality of inkjet presses, even on challenging media.

Harlequin Multi-level Digital Screening will be presented at drupa 2016

With the growing use of inkjet in digital label and package printing, which often involves printing on impermeable materials, Martin Bailey, chief technology officer at Global Graphics Software, said inkjet press manufacturers are looking at software as a means to overcome the mechanical limitations of the technology. The Harlequin Multi-Level Digital Screening engine varies the amount of ink delivered from the inkjet head in any one location on any type of media to overcome common problems such as streaking and mottling that are frustrating many press manufacturers, said Bailey. ‘Our new Harlequin Multi-Level Digital Screening engine compensates for the quality problems currently faced by inkjet press manufacturers and helps them to achieve their goals of high quality and high speed.’

Harlequin Multi-Level Digital Screening can be integrated into digital front ends based on Harlequin RIPs, but will also work with third party DFEs by the addition of a standalone version to replace the native screening.

Harlequin Multi-level Digital Screening will be presented at drupa 2016.
