Grafotronic introduces WiFi-Slitting for automatic knife positioning

Being launched at Labelexpo Europe 2015, WiFi-Slitting is a time-saving slitting positioning system now available for all module-based machines from Grafotronic. Each knife in the slitting station is individually driven and can be individually positioned as per the user’s needs.

All knives are individually controlled by WiFi, which eliminates all cables and allows for up to 17 knives with a minimum slitting width of 15mm in one machine. WiFi-Slitting is a fully automatic system: positions can be entered on the touch screen computer or come from remote source for the current job. The result is reduced downtime, particularly important in short run digital finishing, according the company.

To set the maximum 17 sets of knives reportedly takes less than 10 seconds. Each knife can also be adjusted individually afterwards if needed.

The system will also be available for retrofit in label presses and other slitter rewinders.
