Hapa launches scalable 862 UV inkjet system

Hapa has launched the 862 modular UV inkjet printing system which has been designed to be scalable in order to future-proof packaging production.

The Hapa 862 can be equipped with a variety of options with adding and removing modules described as ‘simple’

With a print speed of up to 54m/min (177ft/min) and a 720dpi native resolution, the Hapa 862’s UV drop-on-demand Piezo system can print complex artwork, and variable and serialized data on foils, labels and other web-fed materials.

At the heart of the system is the newly developed redcube plus integrated printing module that can print in one to four spot colors, or in CMYK. Two pinning stations are an option to fulfill color-on-color printing, while printhead maintenance is fully automated.

An addition to the system is Hapa’s multi-touch HMI which uses HMTL5 web technology and is said to be as easy to operate as a smartphone, ‘yet integrates seamlessly into complex lines’. The software monitors machine statistics as a form of early detection, improving operation efficiency. The UI technology is platform independent, can run on any leading browser and offers a clean separation from application logic, Hapa said.

Further, the Hapa 862 can be equipped with a variety of options including a corona station, hot air dryer, web cleaner, ionization system, web inspection system or an insetter for pre-diecut or pre-printed materials.

Hapa said adding or removing modules is simple and can be installed with simple mechanical and electrical connections.

The Hapa 862 can be configured as a top mounted, stand mounted and roll-to-roll system, and can be integrated with existing processes and ERP/workflow systems.
