Herma launches new thermal paper

Herma is now offering HERMAtherm top M (grade 912), a new, white thermal paper specifically designed for pre-packed food products.

HERMAtherm top M has been developed to withstand the demanding conditions which often prevail when the labels are being applied and printed with variable data

Consumers are increasingly buying fresh meat, sausage and cheese products in pre-packed form, meaning the food industry and retail sector are particularly converned with having reliable, high-quality label materials that lend themselves well to initial pre-printing and subsequent overprinting with the variable weight and/or price data. HERMAtherm top M has been developed to withstand the demanding conditions which often prevail when the labels are being applied and printed with variable data.

With a protecting coating, the bisphenol A (BPA)-free material is particulary advantageous where thermal labels made from smudge-proof, solvent-and grease-resistant paper are required.

It is said to give good results when labels are being applied to humid surfaces, as well as when subsequently exposed to the effects of humidity.

Compared to HERMAtherm top R (grade918), its superior whiteness and improved thermal printable make it suitable for EAN and UPC codes. The material is less susceptible to scratching, thus improving barcode reading accuracy. The smooth surface is also said to deliver improved print quality with all the classic printing methods.

HERMAtherm top M can be coated with all of the company's permanent adhesives to suit the relevant application and requirements and label printers can benefit from all the familiar net width services. It is possible to reach print speeds of up to 200 mm/s with direct thermal printing.
