Primera introduces LX500e color label printer with optional integrated cutter

Primera said LX500e is its most affordable desktop color label and tag printer, with a high-yield, tri-color ink cartridge keeping the cost per label low.

Fast print speeds and an optional built-in guillotine-style cutter allow users to quickly and easily print and cut short runs of labels. In addition, LX500e has a lower MSRP price than the printer it replaces, the LX400e, and is up to 270 percent faster on labels printed with comparable print quality. LX500e’s MSRP price is 1,195 EUR (1,373 USD) while the LX400e was priced at 1,299 EUR (1,492 USD). The LX500ec model, with cutter, is priced at 1,295 EUR (1,487 USD) MSRP in Europe. It is available now from Primera’s resellers and distributors worldwide.

Typical applications include product labels for coffee, wine, bakery, confectionary, meat, cheese and other specialty and gourmet foods. LX500e also accepts tag stock that can be cut with the optional built-in cutter, making it suitable for producing visitor, convention and meeting badges. LX500e can also be used for private labeling, test marketing, pre-press proofing and retail shelf labeling, Primera said. Qualified substrates include many different inkjet label materials, including Primera’s exclusive white gloss and clear gloss polyester as well as white matte polyester. Paper labels are available in high gloss, semi-gloss, vintage and matte finishes.

Printer drivers are included for Windows 7/8/10, along with Bartender Ultralite Software and NiceLabel SE (both for Windows) to format label designs, add barcodes, QR codes, etc. Most other popular graphic design programs for Windows can be used to design and print labels. A Mac driver is currently under development and will be available soon.
