tesa takes package printing into the future with new splicer tape

In response to changing demands in the flexible packaging industry, German manufacturer, tesa, has developed a new splicing tape for the new generation of critical and sensitive film qualities during automatic roll changes.  Called tesa 51910 EasySplice FilmLine PLUS, it reduces waste on thinner films that are more tension sensitive.  It also improves performance on the smooth films that are capable of gliding, and are designed for smooth processing at the highest of speeds on ‘form, fill and seal’ systems.

The new tape has been tested and proven on critical surfaces and at web speeds of over 600m/min.  Roll changes with the thinnest and supplest films are possible, such as those used for the outer layer of diapers.  It also works well with laminating printed films, in particular, with aluminum or other barrier films, where flying splices can be achieved at speeds significantly higher than those with conventional splicing techniques.  With consistent web speed, web tension remains constant, and this produces better laminating results.  It also reduces waste in downstream processes.

The tesa 51910 EasySplice FilmLine is very cost-efficient in use, as printing companies have confirmed from commercial experience.  The high tack of the split backing strip on all film materials means that tesa’s new product provides the necessary adhesion for splicing on film bales – including soft and loosely wound rolls.  With better reliability, splice quality and cost effectiveness, tesa is confident it has a winning product on its hands.
