Tresu develops iCoat 30000

Tresu has reached an agreement with HP to supply an in-line coating system for the new HP Indigo 30000 digital press for folding carton production.

The Tresu iCoat 30000 coater delivers offset-quality output using industry-standard UV or water-based varnish. It is equipped with quick changeover mechanisms for sleeves and plates that reduce set-up time, allowing a large number of different jobs per shift.

Søren Maarssø, Tresu’s chief operating officer, said: ‘The deal between Tresu Group and HP reinforces the digital print process as a competitive solution for short-run folding carton packaging with higher shelf-appeal in smaller volumes.

‘Converters will be able to complement the productivity and outstanding quality offered by HP’s digital technology, with the ability to create a host of value-added coating solutions in a single production pass.’

HP Indigo recently showed the 30000 off to a global audience, alongside the 20000 for flexible packaging printing and a host of product enhancements and options from partners, such as a new finishing line developed as a result of a partnership between Edale and AB Graphic, additional functionality to the Kama ProCut 76 flatbed die-cutting unit and the Tresu iCoat 30000.

The complete system will be publicly demonstrated on HP’s booth at Labelexpo Europe 2013, taking place September 24-27 in Brussels, Belgium.

The magazine, to be published in August, also features an in-depth look at package printing’s wider presence at the label printing show.

Alon Bar-Shany, vice-president and general manager of HP Indigo, said: ‘Understanding how critical coating is in the folding carton market, we needed to work with a company that has vast experience in the specific needs of the industry.

‘Tresu’s experience is second to none, making it a natural fit to bring to market an inline coating solution for the HP Indigo 30000 digital press.’
